[AI-PGF. artificial intelligence /enabled/ public goods funding.] proactive grants for open-source AI that advances public goods funding and movement towards building the funding agi. aipgf.com/
Public goods funding involves coordination mechanisms such as quadratic funding, conviction voting, and community-driven grants, which allocate resources from treasuries & donors to support non-excludable and non-rivalrous projects that benefit the entire community, such as open-source software, protocol research, and community initiatives. What defines a public good is subjective to the respective programs and curated lists but as an underlying tech what is being built is new ways to effectively fund anything. The biggest challenge of these funding programs are
At the core of all funding programs (even for private capital) comes down to why something or / a vertical is funded, what projects to fund, how to distribute that funding, and whether that funding was effective based on the program / ecosystem-wide objectives.
At Potlock, we have been building mechanisms for communities to allocate funding, but from an ecosystem perspective, we look at the enablement of public goods funding as a multipronged approach, building coordination tools, assessment frameworks, outbound workflows, and retroactive funding tools.
To tackle public goods funding in NEAR Ecosystem and also the entire funding space in a more robust way, we are proud to introduce - AI PGF - AI enabled Public Goods Funding
As contributors to the NEAR ecosystem, the leading AI chain, we champion user-owned data and a truly open-source AI. As a competitive next-gen L1 blockchain, we are committed to fostering innovation and exporting novel funding implementations globally. While we have implemented various mechanisms, it became clear that many current PGF mechanisms are experimental, ineffective in funding the most impactful projects, and lack scalability. Therefore, we are pioneering AI Public Goods Funding (PGF) proactive grants for open-source AI to advance public goods funding. Our goal is to generate, streamline, and manage funding programs, setting a catalyst for qualified ecosystem teams to build funding agents and AI stack primitives exportable to a modular stack. As the program evolves, we will integrate community-built agents to streamline this direct grant pool.
